GE HealthCare will be the exclusive distributor for IONIC Health's nCommand Lite platform for multivendor remote access for medical imaging guidance.
IONIC Health, a Brazilian manufacturer of multivendor remote access technology for medical imaging devices, has scored 510(k)-clearance for its nCommand Lite System, which will be exclusively distributed by GE HealthCare to support multivendor, remote MR, CT, and PET/CT patient imaging.

The technology provides remote access to images for review and connects technologists operating the scanner with experts anywhere in the world who can offer real-time guidance. The solution can be used for training, procedure assessments, and scanning parameter management, especially in complex cases that require support from an off-site expert technologist.

“We recognize that healthcare systems are not only looking to leverage the skills of one expert across multiple physical locations for knowledge sharing and training but have an imaging fleet that includes multiple vendors and modalities, so it was critical for us to expand our remote operations portfolio by adding IONIC Health’s nCommand Lite technology,” said Rekha Ranganathan, senior vice president and general manager of imaging platforms and digital solutions at GE HealthCare, in a statement.

The solution is vendor-agnostic and has multi-modality capabilities for streamlining workflow across disparate imaging fleets. Remote users can connect to multiple scanners, and the technology absorbs low bandwidth to optimize their experiences.

IONIC Health announced its partnership back in November with GE HealthCare, which at the time released its Digital Expert Access software with remote scanning, the first of its kind with 510(k)-clearance. Both companies said they were seeking to expand remote scanning for multiple imaging modalities made by different manufacturers.

“Developed with multi-modality and multi-vendor functionalities and high-end technology to scale and tackle staffing shortages, nCommand Lite enables broader access to expert technologists. Through our continued collaboration with GE HealthCare, we hope to make the nCommand technology available to more regions across the globe in the future,” said José Leovigildo Coelho, CEO and co-founder of IONIC Health, in a statement.
