Siemens Healthineers and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center have entered a 10-year, $105 million agreement aimed at advancing imaging technologies and clinical care.

Building on a long-standing relationship, the partnership will enhance diagnostic and therapeutic imaging, AI applications in radiology and oncology, and healthcare accessibility for underserved populations.

The deal includes equipment purchases, consulting services, and workforce development programs. Central to the collaboration is the establishment of a center for imaging excellence, which will unite researchers, clinicians, engineers, and learners to accelerate innovation in imaging for diseases such as cancer, cardiac conditions, and neurological disorders.

“Combining the strengths of both our institutions allows us to achieve more for the benefit of our patients, locally and globally,” said Dr. John J. Warner, CEO of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. “Along with Siemens Healthineers, we can solve medical challenges and adapt therapies in real time for the betterment of our patients.”

Scientists from Siemens Healthineers will join teams from the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, the Ohio State Heart and Vascular Center, the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, and the Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). Together, they will collaborate on translational research designed to bring practical innovations directly to clinical practice.

David Pacitti, president and head of the Americas at Siemens Healthineers, emphasized the impact of the partnership. “Not only are we providing advanced imaging and other modalities, but through our research collaboration, we’re also co-developing technologies that can save and improve patients’ lives.”

The relationship between Siemens Healthineers and the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center goes back more than 15 years, including imaging innovations such as MR techniques for detecting cardiac inflammation and cost-effective methods for imaging cardiac function using lower-field MR scanners.
