MR technologist reviews neuro images in icometrix AI reporting tool
Royal Philips and Leuven-based icometrix have announced a collaboration to advance precision diagnosis and treatment monitoring for neurological conditions using AI-powered imaging solutions.

The partnership integrates icometrix’s FDA-cleared AI tools into Philips’ BlueSeal MR scanners and healthcare informatics platform.

icometrix’s icobrain software suite, which provides quantitative assessments for conditions like Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis (MS), will be deployed through Philips’ Smart Reading software and AI Manager platform. The integration aims to streamline workflows, enhance diagnostic accuracy, and support personalized treatment planning, addressing critical needs in neurology care.

Addressing Alzheimer’s diagnostics and treatment monitoring
With advancements in Alzheimer’s therapies, including monoclonal antibodies, MR has become crucial in identifying treatment candidates and monitoring outcomes. The icobrain ARIA software detects and quantifies amyloid-related imaging abnormalities, a potential side effect of these drugs. Combined with Philips SmartSpeed and SmartExam technologies, the solution enhances efficiency and consistency for radiology departments managing high caseloads.

“MRI quantification is crucial to unlock precision medicine, especially in the Alzheimer’s disease care pathway,” said Wim Van Hecke, CEO of icometrix.

Enhancing MS imaging and diagnosis
For MS care, Philips scanners and icobrain ms software enable precise imaging of white-matter lesions, a hallmark of the disease. This integration supports longitudinal comparisons of MR exams, aiding in treatment decisions.

The solutions are being showcased at RSNA 2024 in Chicago from December 1-4, with demonstrations available at Philips’ and icometrix’s booths.
