Eli Lilly is investing $3 billion to expand its manufacturing facility in Kenosha County, Wisconsin.

The site, acquired earlier this year, will bolster the company’s capacity for producing injectable medicines, including treatments for diabetes, obesity, and other pipeline therapies.

The project will add 750 specialized jobs to the existing workforce of over 100 at the facility. Once completed, the facility will incorporate advanced automation technologies, such as robotics and guided vehicles, to streamline production and enhance quality control.

"This marks our largest U.S. manufacturing investment outside Indiana," said Edgardo Hernandez, Lilly's executive vice president and president of manufacturing operations. "Wisconsin is becoming a pivotal part of our global operations, and this expansion will enable us to meet the growing demand for our medicines."

The initiative is part of Lilly's broader manufacturing expansion strategy, which has seen over $23 billion invested globally since 2020. In Wisconsin alone, Lilly's investments — including land acquisitions and related projects — now total $4 billion.

The expanded facility will focus on injectable medicines, device assembly, and packaging across multiple therapeutic areas. Additionally, Lilly plans to collaborate with local educational institutions to foster innovation in pharmaceutical manufacturing and support workforce development.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers praised the announcement, highlighting its impact on the local economy and the state’s growing prominence in biohealth and personalized medicine. "This partnership with Lilly will strengthen our manufacturing industry while supporting families and patients in Wisconsin and beyond," he said.

Construction is slated to begin in 2025, and will generate more than 2,000 construction jobs.
