Nemours Children’s Health has announced a $300 million investment to expand its Nemours Children’s Hospital campus in Orlando, Florida, over the next four years.

The project is aimed at addressing the growing need for pediatric healthcare services in Central Florida, one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States.

The expansion includes three major construction projects:

A 110,000-square-foot addition to the pediatric hospital, doubling the size of the emergency department, expanding the imaging department, and adding inpatient beds and observation rooms. This portion of the project is expected to open in 2028.

A new 75,000-square-foot patient care facility, housing an expanded surgery center with six operating rooms, exam rooms, and specialized centers for orthopedics and sports medicine. The facility will also include Florida’s only accredited gait and motion analysis lab and an international center for limb lengthening.

A 75,000-square-foot administrative building with an 800-space parking garage, scheduled for completion in 2027.

“This expansion is a critical step in achieving our vision of bringing world-class children’s care to Florida,” said Dr. R. Lawrence Moss, president and CEO of Nemours Children’s Health.

The investment responds to increasing demand for pediatric services. Florida’s pediatric population in Central Florida, currently at one million, is projected to grow by nearly 5% over the next five years. Nemours already serves over 300,000 children and teens annually in the state.

Martha McGill, president of Nemours’ Central Florida region, emphasized the importance of the expansion. “This investment is designed to care for more children, many of whom require highly complex care,” she said.

Nemours Children’s Health operates two free-standing children’s hospitals and over 70 care locations across the U.S. The organization’s commitment is rooted in the legacy of Alfred I. duPont, whose philanthropy established the Nemours Foundation.
