Ardent Health, a Brentwood, Tennessee-based healthcare provider, has acquired 18 urgent care clinics across New Mexico and Oklahoma from NextCare Urgent Care. The move expands Ardent’s network of outpatient facilities and bolsters its focus on providing accessible care in midsized urban markets.

The transaction includes six clinics in New Mexico, which will now operate under Lovelace Health System, and 12 clinics in Oklahoma, which will join Hillcrest HealthCare System. This acquisition significantly increases Ardent's presence in both states, where it currently operates five hospitals and 25 care sites in New Mexico, and eight hospitals and 57 care sites in Oklahoma.

In total, Ardent Health operates 30 acute care hospitals and more than 200 sites of care across six states, employing over 1,800 affiliated providers.

"Expanding our urgent care footprint represents significant progress in our mission to create a consumer-focused ecosystem of care in each of the communities we serve,” said Marty Bonick, president and CEO of Ardent Health. “We’re helping patients receive the care they need, when and where they need it, by increasing access to convenient, high-quality services. These additional access points also bring new patients into our network while creating enhanced capacity to serve patients within our clinics and emergency departments.”

This acquisition follows Ardent Health’s purchase of nine urgent care centers in East Texas and Topeka, Kansas, in 2024.

The company has not disclosed the financial terms of the latest transaction.
