Prosser Memorial Health (PMH) will open its $125 million, 88,000-square-foot hospital on February 1, 2025.
The facility, which has been under development since the purchase of the land in 2016, reflects PMH's response to a 20% annual growth in patient demand over the last five years, particularly in the Yakima Valley region.
The new hospital will feature 25 private patient rooms, including four for intensive care, and a significantly expanded emergency department with 14 rooms, two of which are designated trauma rooms. Additional enhancements include a larger wound and infusion center and a cardio rehabilitation program, aimed at improving the range and quality of care for local residents.
Five state-of-the-art operating suites will enhance PMH’s surgical capabilities, equipped with advanced imaging and technology to improve both patient outcomes and operational efficiency. A full-service cafeteria will also debut at the new facility, offering dining options for patients, visitors, and staff.
PMH operates clinics in Prosser, Grandview, and Benton City, providing primary and specialty care services such as cardiology, orthopedics, dermatology, and behavioral health. The new hospital will continue to build on PMH’s commitment to addressing regional healthcare challenges, including provider shortages and the growing need for specialized services.
"PMH is first and foremost a community-focused organization," said Shannon Hitchcock, PMH spokesperson. "Our goal is to enhance the health and well-being of the people we serve."
The organization’s dedication to quality has earned national recognition, including a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, making it the only critical access hospital in Washington state with this distinction. PMH aims to join the ranks of the top 100 critical access hospitals in the U.S.
