Actinium Pharmaceuticals has signed a supply agreement with Eckert & Ziegler for Actinium-225 (Ac-225), securing a key radioisotope for its targeted radiotherapy programs. The New York-based company said the arrangement will ensure a consistent supply of Ac-225 to support its lead candidate Actimab-A and other programs in development.

Actimab-A is an alpha-emitting radiotherapeutic targeting CD33, a protein commonly found on cancer cells in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and related conditions. The therapy is currently being studied in both relapsed/refractory and frontline AML settings, including in trials conducted under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the National Cancer Institute.

In addition to hematologic malignancies, Actimab-A is being evaluated in combination with checkpoint inhibitors in solid tumors such as head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and non-small cell lung cancer. Actinium is also advancing other radiotherapeutics, including Iomab-ACT and Iomab-B, for conditioning ahead of cell and gene therapies and bone marrow transplant, respectively.

“With this supply agreement with Eckert & Ziegler, we will have access to reliable and constant supply of Ac-225 to advance our product development in the U.S. as well as internationally,” said Sandesh Seth, chairman and CEO of Actinium Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Harald Hasselmann, CEO of Berlin-based Eckert & Ziegler, added, “The progress we have made in our Ac-225 project over the past year marks only the start of our program to address the global shortage of this vital radionuclide.”

Eckert & Ziegler supplies a range of medical isotopes, including Gallium-68, Lutetium-177, and Yttrium-90, and provides contract manufacturing and distribution services to the radiopharmaceutical industry.
