Olympus Corporation announced on April 25 that Bob White will become its next representative executive officer, president, and CEO, effective June 1, 2025.

The Tokyo-based medical technology company will also nominate White for election to its board at the upcoming general meeting of shareholders in June.

White previously served as executive vice president and president of the medical surgical portfolio at Medtronic, where he led several research, development, and acquisition initiatives. His earlier roles include president of Medtronic Asia Pacific, and leadership positions at Covidien, GE Healthcare, Merge Healthcare, and IBM’s healthcare division.
Outgoing CEO Yasuo Takeuchi said in a statement, “We are pleased to name Bob to this pivotal leadership role. He possesses a wealth of experience garnered from his tenure at various esteemed organizations within the medical technology sector. I look forward to welcoming him as a leader who will bring extensive knowledge and expertise to the company.”

White added, “I am truly honored and grateful for the trust placed in me by the Board of Directors and the Nominating Committee. Olympus is an exceptional company, known for its market-leading solutions, cutting-edge technology, and remarkable people.”

Olympus said the appointment follows a search process that began in November 2024, involving an external executive search firm and an internal advisory search committee. The company cited White’s leadership in quality, regulatory, and strategic transformation initiatives as key factors in his selection.

White holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Cleveland State University and an MBA in finance from Case Western Reserve University. He currently resides in Colorado but will relocate to Tokyo for his new role.

Olympus, founded over a century ago, focuses on providing medical technology solutions for early detection, diagnosis, and minimally invasive treatment.
