Function Health has acquired Ezra, a medical imaging company, and introduced a full-body MR scan priced at $499.
The scan, powered by Ezra’s FDA-cleared AI, reduces scan time from one hour to 22 minutes, according to the companies.
The New York-based Function Health, known for its nationwide lab testing platform, said the acquisition combines its diagnostic services with Ezra’s imaging technology. The integrated offering is designed to provide members with a broader health assessment by pairing lab results with imaging data.

Dr. Mark Hyman, co-founder and chief medical officer of Function Health, described the approach as scalable. “This is the most powerful approach I’ve seen in my entire career; and for the first time, it can truly scale to millions [of patients],” Hyman said in a statement.
The new MR service aims to support early detection of conditions such as cancer, silent strokes, aneurysms, and other health risks that may not present symptoms immediately. Function also plans to expand imaging options to include scans for spinal issues, fatty liver disease, and detailed body composition analysis.
Jonathan Swerdlin, co-founder and CEO of Function Health, said imaging had been part of the company’s long-term plan. “Now with Ezra becoming a part of Function, we complete the picture,” he said.
Function Health’s lab testing platform is already offered through Quest Diagnostics at more than 2,200 locations across the U.S.
