UMass Chan Medical School appoints chief human resources officer

Patrick Gallagher, MBA, a human resources leader with more than 20 years of experience in higher education and health care sectors, will be joining UMass Chan Medical School as the deputy executive vice chancellor, people strategy. He will begin June 30 and his office will be located on the main Worcester campus.

Since 2022, Gallagher has served as vice president of administrative services and chief administrative officer for Yeshiva University in New York City, the nation’s flagship Jewish university, serving a student population of more than 2,000 undergraduates and 3,500 graduate students across four campuses. There, he managed several departments, including human resources, facilities management, information technology services and institutional project management.

Previously, he spent more than 11 years at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, most recently as assistant vice provost of operations and support services.

He is deeply committed to launching initiatives that foster high-performance workplace cultures.

Gallagher has a bachelor's degree in political science and history from Eastern Michigan University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler Business School.
