Methodist Hospitals has selected Philips to equip four new interventional labs across its Northlake and Southlake campuses in Northwest Indiana, expanding capabilities in neurovascular, cardiology and interventional radiology services.

The hospital system will deploy the Philips Azurion platform in both biplane and single plane configurations, including one neuro suite for complex procedures such as stroke interventions, two labs dedicated to cardiovascular procedures, and a multipurpose suite for more advanced radiology cases.

Philips says the Azurion system is designed to enhance image-guided therapy while reducing radiation exposure. The system allows for tableside control of imaging and software tools, aiming to improve workflow and reduce procedure time. Methodist Hospitals will also integrate Philips’ IntraSight platform, which provides intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and other physiologic assessment tools to support complex interventions.

“This investment allows us to maintain the highest standards of care now and into the future,” said Matt Doyle, president and CEO of Methodist Hospitals. “Philips’ trusted solutions will empower us to deliver exceptional care to our patients close to home.”

According to Philips, facilities using the Azurion system have reported efficiency gains, including shorter procedures and increased daily caseloads, though individual results may vary. The company also highlights its ClarityIQ technology, which enables high-quality imaging at lower X-ray doses.

Jeff DiLullo, chief region leader at Philips North America, said the collaboration supports the hospital’s efforts to improve outcomes through technology. “These new interventional suites represent a significant step forward in fulfilling Methodist Hospitals’ commitment to providing the highest level of care for every patient they serve,” DiLullo said.

Methodist Hospitals, headquartered in Gary, Indiana, operates more than 500 inpatient beds and is home to both a Heart and Vascular Institute and a NeuroScience Institute.
