AKSM/Oncology has chosen RaySearch Laboratories’ RayCare oncology information system and RayStation treatment planning software for a new cancer center under development in San Luis Obispo, California.
The center, part of a new initiative called Advanced Radiation Therapeutics (ART), formed in partnership with Urology Associates of the Central Coast, is expected to open in March 2026. ART will serve as a multidisciplinary radiation therapy center for the Central Coast region.
RaySearch, based in Stockholm, confirmed that ART will deploy its software alongside Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators. The TrueBeam system was acquired through Radiology Oncology Systems (ROS), a RaySearch collaboration partner.

The platform provides an integrated workflow from treatment prescription to delivery, and is designed to streamline clinical processes by reducing the number of manual steps. When used in combination with RayStation, the center will have access to planning capabilities including 3D conformal therapy, IMRT, VMAT, electron therapy, and deformable image registration.
“We are pleased to partner with RaySearch to provide all oncology information and treatment planning systems for our new state-of-the-art Radiation Therapy Center currently under development in San Luis Obispo, California,” said Scott Neal, president of AKSM/Oncology and board member at ART. “RaySearch is at the forefront of innovation in this field, and we look forward to collaborating in our shared commitment to advancing patient care and improving outcomes for our patients.”
RaySearch founder and CEO Johan Löf added, “I am excited to see the RayCare extension gaining traction in the U.S. and I believe that RaySearch's integrated treatment planning and oncology information system present a compelling solution for all types of radiotherapy centers.”
