OhioHealth has announced an $8.5 million renovation of the operating suite at Hardin Memorial Hospital, aimed at modernizing surgical spaces and supporting long-term recruitment and retention of clinical staff.
The project will update two primary operating rooms with new surgical equipment while converting two additional suites for future procedural use and sterile storage. Plans also call for expanded recovery areas, renovated locker rooms for physicians and staff, and the addition of a dictation station.
The Kenton-based hospital, part of the OhioHealth system, will carry out the renovation in phases to avoid disruption to ongoing surgical services.

“This renovation solidifies our commitment to providing state-of-the-art medical care for our community in Hardin County,” said Jim Parobek, president of OhioHealth Hardin Memorial Hospital. “It’s about ensuring our patients receive the highest level of care close to home for years to come.”
The investment is also intended to enhance clinical operations. “By modernizing our surgical suite, we are enhancing both safety and efficiency, which are crucial for delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our talented surgical teams,” said Jim Whitaker, senior advisor of operations.
Aaron Fritz, DO, an orthopedic surgeon at the hospital, said the renovation is a meaningful step for the clinical team and the broader community. “The surgical suite renovation will enhance our ability to provide advanced, efficient care close to home,” he said.
Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2026 and wrap up by early 2027.
