Royal Philips has reached a milestone with the 5,000th global installation of its Zenition mobile surgery imaging system, the company announced last week.
The Zenition platform, introduced in 2019, is now in use across more than 170 countries and is part of over 15 million procedures annually, according to Philips. The milestone coincides with the 70th anniversary of the company’s first mobile C-arm, launched in 1955.
The Zenition line incorporates imaging and workflow tools drawn from Philips’ Azurion platform. Features like Position Memory and BodySmart software are designed to reduce repositioning needs, which the company claims can cut C-arm movement by nearly half. The platform is available in both motorized and non-motorized models, with configurations aimed at streamlining clinical workflows and extending equipment life cycle.

“Designed as an intuitive, impressively fast motorized C-arm, the Zenition efficiently delivers state-of-the-art image quality,” said Filip Neumann, head of the endoscopy department at Kolín Regional Hospital in the Czech Republic, where the system was recently deployed. “The tableside operator and touch screen module provide motion and image control directly at the table, giving operators greater flexibility and independence.”
The Amsterdam-based company emphasized the importance of workflow efficiency and system flexibility, particularly as healthcare providers continue to face staffing shortages and financial pressures.
“Reaching 5,000 Zenition installations worldwide is a testament to the trust clinicians place in our solutions to deliver high-quality care,” said Mark Stoffels, global business leader for image-guided therapy systems at Philips.
Rohit Sathe, global business leader for mobile surgery, added that the milestone also reflects the company’s long-standing presence in the surgical imaging market. “This milestone reflects both our rich 70-year heritage in surgical imaging and our continued commitment to helping healthcare providers overcome today’s challenges,” he said.
