Intermountain Health has signed an agreement to acquire Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging (SDMI), a Las Vegas-based outpatient imaging provider with 12 locations across the metro area.
The planned acquisition marks a significant expansion of Intermountain’s imaging services in southern Nevada, where the nonprofit health system already operates more than 80 clinics and 65 facilities spanning primary, specialty, and urgent care. The transaction is expected to close after January 1, 2026, with a phased integration to follow.
Eric Liston, Intermountain’s chief clinical shared services officer, said the deal supports the system’s goal of offering more coordinated imaging care. “As the number of people with chronic and complex health conditions continues to grow, ease of access to high-quality imaging services is more important than ever,” he said.

SDMI has operated in Nevada since 1988 and is designated a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence. Its services are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and the American College of Radiology (ACR), with additional ACR designations for stereotactic breast biopsy and lung cancer screening.
The company employs more than 550 staff, including technologists and radiologists, most of whom hold subspecialty training in areas such as pediatric radiology, musculoskeletal imaging, and women’s imaging.
“We’re excited to join Intermountain Health to share our expertise as a leader not only in imaging, but in integrity, service, and vision,” said Dr. Mark Winkler, founding partner and president of SDMI.
Intermountain, headquartered in Salt Lake City, has been expanding its footprint in southern Nevada. The organization serves an estimated 350,000 residents in Clark and Nye counties and has plans to build the state’s first stand-alone children’s hospital; a 200-bed facility expected to break ground next year.
Financial terms of the SDMI acquisition were not disclosed.
