Hologic at RSNA 2025
New clinical data supporting Hologic’s AI-based mammography technologies is being presented at the RSNA meeting in Chicago, including studies that evaluate its 3DQuorum and Genius AI Detection solutions, with a focus on workflow efficiency and diagnostic performance.

A retrospective study led by Dr. Manisha Bahl of Massachusetts General Hospital assessed the impact of Hologic’s 3DQuorum technology on cancer detection rates. Researchers analyzed more than 160,000 screening mammograms, comparing data from before and after the hospital adopted the AI-driven tool. The technology reduces the number of tomosynthesis image slices radiologists need to interpret by summarizing data while maintaining image quality.

According to the study, there was no significant difference in cancer detection rates after implementing 3DQuorum, suggesting the tool may help address staffing constraints by streamlining the reading process without sacrificing sensitivity.

“AI holds boundless potential in healthcare that we are only beginning to tap into,” said Dr. Bahl. “In breast cancer screening, technologies like 3DQuorum help radiologists work more efficiently while still delivering the same high-quality care to every woman.”

Another study, led by professor Yan Chen of the University of Nottingham, evaluated Hologic’s Genius AI Detection platform using 75 difficult breast cancer cases. The system’s performance was compared against interpretations from 108 radiologists across the U.K. and U.S. While the AI tool demonstrated higher cancer detection rates, it also showed reduced specificity, pointing to an increased likelihood of false positives. The study is ongoing.

In addition to presenting these findings, Hologic is showcasing its Envision mammography platform and hosting educational events on AI applications, contrast-enhanced mammography, and breast surgery during the RSNA meeting.
