The Arlington, Texas-based nonprofit health system Texas Health Resources plans to build a new hospital and medical campus in north McKinney as part of a broader expansion effort across North Texas.
The project, expected to open in 2028, will begin with 60 beds and include space to expand to roughly double that capacity as the surrounding population grows. The hospital and a medical office building will be constructed on 51 acres near U.S. 75 and Laud Howell Parkway in northeast McKinney. The campus is intended to serve residents in north McKinney and nearby communities including Anna, Melissa, and Princeton.
Texas Health said the hospital will include a women’s services center with labor and delivery and a neonatal intensive care unit, along with an emergency department, surgical suites, cardiology services and advanced imaging.

"The pace of our expansion reflects the urgent need for accessible, quality healthcare in this flourishing region, and our commitment to the North Texas community," said Barclay Berdan, FACHE, CEO of Texas Health. "This new facility will provide advanced medical care and emergency services to thousands of local families who deserve convenient, quality treatment close to home."
The announcement comes as the health system moves forward with other construction and renovation projects in the region, including a new hospital in Forney.
Texas Health currently operates 29 hospitals and more than 420 access points across North Texas. The new facility would mark its first campus in north Collin County, an area that includes several rapidly growing cities. Data from the U.S. Census Bureau show communities such as Princeton, Anna, Melissa and Celina among the fastest-growing in the country.
“We are proud to welcome Texas Health Resources to north McKinney as they invest in one of the fastest growing areas of our city,” said McKinney Mayor Bill Cox. “McKinney is a place where families put down roots, and access to exceptional healthcare is essential.”
Texas Health already operates several facilities elsewhere in Collin County, including Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, and Texas Health Hospital Frisco, all of which have undergone recent expansions or upgrades.
The system said the McKinney campus is intended to add capacity and extend access to emergency and specialty care as population growth continues across the region.
