Detection Technology has introduced a new detector platform designed to support multiple CT system architectures, including future photon-counting CT (PCCT) systems.
The Espoo, Finland-based company said its AIDA platform is now commercially available following customer evaluations. The system is designed as a combined hardware and software detector architecture intended to work across rotating CT, static CT and next-generation photon-counting configurations.
According to the company, the platform integrates detector modules, data combiner boards, data control boards and slip ring interfaces with proprietary application programming interfaces compatible with the GigE Vision protocol. The goal is to reduce the number of separate interfaces in CT systems while providing a unified framework for detector integration.

Detection Technology said the platform can manage data rates of tens of gigabits per second during a single CT rotation. The architecture is designed to scale toward hundreds of gigabits per second, enabling broader imaging coverage and faster acquisition times. The company also said the system is designed to support improvements in temporal resolution and material differentiation, which are relevant to emerging photon-counting CT technologies.
“AIDA is a highly adaptable and future-ready CT detector platform,” said Arve Lukander, president of the EMEIA business unit at Detection Technology. “With its modular and scalable architecture, customers can deploy a single, unified solution across multiple CT modalities while preparing for the increasing performance demands of photon-counting technology.”
Detection Technology said the modular structure is intended to simplify CT system development by reducing hardware complexity and streamlining component integration. The approach may also shorten development timelines and simplify supply chains for device manufacturers, the company said.
The company plans to present the AIDA detector platform at the European Congress of Radiology, scheduled for March 4 – 8 in Vienna.
