LOWVILLE, NY — The Lewis County Health System Board of Managers today announces the appointment of Jeffery W. Hellinger, its current Chief Financial Officer, as its next Chief Executive Officer, following a comprehensive transition process conducted by the Board.
A native of Lowville, Mr. Hellinger, will replace current CEO Gerald R. Cayer on August 4, 2026, who is retiring after nine (9) years of leading the System.
Mr. Hellinger has been an integral part of the management team of the System since 2004 and has served as CFO since 2013. He currently manages the day-to-day operations for several departments, including Finance, Information Systems, Patient Accounting, Payroll, Communications, and Admissions.

He has been a central figure in strengthening the System’s financial position, advancing operational stability, and supporting major strategic initiatives across hospital, primary care, and long-term care services.

Mr. Cayer has built a strong foundation, and I look forward to advancing our shared commitment to high quality, accessible care for the citizens of Lewis County and the surrounding region.”
