WellSpan appoints executive VP and chief physician executive

WellSpan Health announced today that Dr. Kevin L. Lewis has joined the organization as executive vice president and chief physician executive, effective today. Lewis is a nationally experienced physician executive, having led clinical transformation, physician alignment, acquisitions, hospital leadership, quality and systemwide performance across large, complex health systems.

In his new role, Lewis will serve as president of WellSpan Medical Group and provide executive leadership to the board of directors for the medical group as well as WellSpan Population Health. He will work closely with WellSpan leaders to help shape the organization’s clinical growth strategies.

Lewis is a board-certified pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine physician. Most recently, he served as senior vice president, chief clinical officer and chief physician executive at Hospital Sisters Health System headquartered in Springfield, Illinois and operating in Illinois and Wisconsin. He had oversight of medical groups, a large accountable care organization and clinically integrated network, virtual care, health sciences education and research across 13 hospitals. His experience leading clinical integration and systemwide performance initiatives positions him to advance WellSpan’s strategic priorities.
