Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology has replaced its legacy radiology worklist infrastructure with NewVue’s EmpowerSuite platform, a move the New York imaging provider said reduced operational complexity tied to managing imaging workflows across its growing network.

The outpatient imaging practice operates 22 sites and employs about 80 radiologists who read more than 1 million studies annually. According to the companies, Zwanger-Pesiri previously managed more than 120 worklists and roughly 2,000 routing rules as it expanded across Suffolk and Nassau counties.

The practice has now adopted NewVue’s Intelligent Worklist technology, part of the vendor’s cloud-native EmpowerSuite platform, to consolidate workflows into a single enterprise worklist.
Lynn Chiesa, director of clinical applications at Zwanger-Pesiri, said the organization previously dedicated four full-time staff members to maintaining workflow consistency, managing radiologist worklists and overriding assignments generated by its rules-based system.

“With NewVue, we have a single enterprise worklist and zero routing rules,” Chiesa said in a statement. “Everything happens seamlessly in the background.”

NewVue said its platform automatically assigns studies to radiologists based on factors including subspecialty, credentials, urgency and workload balancing. The company positions the software as an alternative to legacy workflow orchestration systems and homegrown workflow tools commonly used by radiology groups.

NewVue was founded by members of the original PeerVue team, which helped establish intelligent radiology worklists as a workflow category. The company said EmpowerSuite is designed to integrate with existing PACS, RIS, EHR and AI systems, rather than replace them outright.
