Stockholm, Sweden – June 10, 2026 – Elekta, a global leader in precision radiation medicine, and MIBS, an international medical group specializing in advanced diagnostics and oncology, today announced the signing of an agreement for the supply of two Leksell Gamma Knife Esprit systems for projects in Uzbekistan and the Iberian Peninsula.

Under the agreement, Elekta will supply and install a Leksell Gamma Knife Esprit at a new oncology hospital in Tashkent being developed by MIBS. It will be the first Gamma Knife system in Uzbekistan and a key part of a comprehensive, state‑of‑the‑art cancer hospital bringing advanced diagnostics, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment together under one roof.

The Tashkent hospital is being developed with strong support from the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is expected to open in 2027. It is designed to become the most technologically advanced oncology facility in the country.

Uzbekistan’s population has grown to about 38 million, underscoring the need for modern oncology infrastructure and highly specialized treatment capacity.

A second Leksell Gamma Knife Esprit will be installed at another MIBS project in the Iberian Peninsula. Further details on that installation will be announced at a later stage.

Founded in 2003, MIBS focuses on high‑technology diagnostic and therapeutic care and has been treating patients with Elekta’s Leksell Gamma Knife since 2008. The two Gamma Knife centers operated by MIBS are among the busiest sites in the world.

“This agreement reflects Elekta’s commitment to extending access to precise intracranial radiosurgery,” said Jakob Just‑Bomholt, President and Chief Executive Officer, Elekta. “The first Leksell Gamma Knife Esprit in Uzbekistan will be an important addition to the country’s oncology capabilities, while the second system in the Iberian Peninsula supports a further significant development with MIBS.”

“For MIBS, this agreement builds on a long‑standing cooperation with Elekta and more than two decades dedicated to helping patients,” said Alisa Guarconi Dutra, Head of International Development, MIBS. “Our experience with Gamma Knife has always been guided by one goal: making the best possible treatment available to more people, and these projects in Uzbekistan and the Iberian Peninsula are a meaningful step forward in that work.”
