Himanshu Gupta is second from left
EverX, a now well-known name in the refurbished medical equipment market, was established in 2000 in Sydney, Australia. The company deals and services an extensive range of refurbished medical equipment such as CT scanners, MRI scanners, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, color dopplers, C-arms, mobile X-ray units, mammography machines and cath Labs. "We have been judged twice, two years in a row, to be one of the Top 100 fastest-growing companies in Australia by the national business weekly -- BRW," says Himanshu Gupta
Himanshu Gupta, Director.
Gupta's background prepared him well: "I am a mechanical engineer, and I started to do business while I was completing my PhD in one of the premier institutes of India; a few of my engineering mates were working for Toshiba in India and introduced me to this field. EverX has been established with the strong support of my fellow directors Ravinder Bindra and Sudhir Mishra in Japan. I will take the credit of bringing them together--BUT the credit of EverX success is jointly ours, and our counterparts spread around the globe has made EverX what it is today."

Gupta explained to DOTmed News how EverX handles its equipment: "We have equipment pre-staging facilities in Sydney where we refurbish most of our equipment. It includes disinfecting, calibrations and quality performance testing -- the machines are also cosmetically touched up or repainted. We have a team of highly trained service engineers with years of working experience with Siemens, Toshiba, GE and Philips in most of the modalities we support. EverX also has refurbishing facilities for GE CTs and GE superconducting MRIs in India with its business partners and can undertake very sophisticated tasks, i.e. magnet cooling, magnet shimming and cold head maintenance and rebuilding."
One important consideration for any medical equipment business is defining its strengths in today's market. Gupta says that EverX's strength is being equated with reliability. "We have brought honesty and transparency into this business. Our origins are from India where we were once the buyers of these machines from so-called suppliers of used equipment. Today we are the suppliers to companies like ourselves of yesteryear. We not only know the problems, frustrations, limitations and the sense of helplessness but also the expectations of the buyer." Part of the payoff for good practices is being one of the DOTmed 100. "It looks nice that out of 20,000 users of DOTmed you are in top 100--that itself sets you apart."
Gupta described the positive feedback he receives from clientele. "One doctor wrote to tell us because of our company, he can sleep at night. This doctor came all the way from Africa to Sydney to buy his machine; he even named his radiology center after us--EverX Imaging." Another dealer expressed gratitude that he was no longer at the mercy of unscrupulous suppliers and could rely upon EverX's word.
Gupta is also proud of the EverX staffs' communication skills, availability to do the job and the company's network of like-minded and qualified people around the world. This network of engineers and technicians have worked creatively in troubleshooting problems at grassroots level--often without the luxury of expensive spare parts. Yet EverX, being very strong in Australia and Japan, also has the benefit of being exposed to the latest in technological advancement, bringing the best of both worlds together.
