RapidArc radiotherapy technology is a major advance from Varian Medical Systems that improves dose conformity while significantly shortening treatment times. RapidArc delivers treatments two to eight times faster than the fastest dynamic treatments with increased precision that enables physicians to improve the standard of care and treat more patients.
In Manhattan, RapidArc is available at St. Vincent Hospital Cancer Center -- the first in the city to use the device. A spokesperson at Varian told DOTmed News that there are several other hospitals in the area interested including Sloan-Kettering's Radiation and Oncology Department with four area sites in Manhattan, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey.
