The diagnostic imaging service industry has lost one of its finest leaders. Terry Speth, 61, the charismatic, visionary Founder and President of Radiological Service Training Institute died December 29. Speth was a long-time member of the DOTmed community.
Twenty-five years ago, Terry Speth envisioned the need for independent, multi-vendor service training in an industry that was dominated by the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). From its humble beginnings in Solon, Ohio, Terry created the first hands-on diagnostic imaging training center. His electronics training in the U.S. Navy and his tenure managing training and development for Picker X-Ray gave him a unique combination of skills which made RSTI an immediate and long-term success. The classroom experience with Terry was unparalleled. His years of experience, his stories, and his sense of humor allowed him to connect with each and every student with whom he came in contact.
"Whether you met him in the lunch room or on student night out, you knew that you were in the presence of a great, charismatic person. His teaching, his expertise and his entrepreneurial spirit inspired everyone and spawned many hospital in-house service groups and independent service organizations," the company said in a statement. "Terry was very passionate about all that he did. He has left a legacy that will not soon be forgotten."

The funeral service was held January 3, 2009 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Chagrin Falls, OH.
A memorial scholarship is being established in Terry's name with information forthcoming on the company's website and in its newsletter.
