The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) have sponsored an online program to help RTs keep pace with changes in the medical imaging industry. The Online Digital Imaging Academy (ODIA), which debuted in October 2008, offers 11 interactive modules to help RTs and radiologic science students grasp a better understanding of applied technologies of digital imaging.
"We produced this course because we recognized that there weren't many options for technologists who wanted to learn about digital imaging. ODIA fills an important educational need," said ARRT President Jordan Renner, MD, FACR.
The course is comprehensive, including not only immediate application of the technology but also the foundation of its science and theories. Participants are permitted to customize the learning environment as well as learn at their own pace. Modules cover topics such as image capture, display, processing and analysis, archiving and communication systems, patient exposure, radiation safety and quality assurance.
