The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) announces the online educational Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program in response to continuing education requirements for radiologists.
Kathy Thomas, Senior Director of Education for ASTRO, said that ASTRO worked with the American Board of Radiology (ABR) to develop the MOC program to provide an easy way for members to keep track of their certification renewal requirements.
The ABR requires board certified radiation oncologists to renew their certification every 10 years, and the American Board of Medical Specialties has determined the need for continuing professional development to meet benchmarks for quality of care.
