This Year -- The Same
Age as Google!
This week DOTmed turns 10. Our domain, www.DOTmed.com was registered April 23, 1999.
Since that time, the company and website have grown steadily, topping 107,000 registered users, with more than 150,000 listings, and more than 12,000 unique visitors every day.
DOTmed has also added many features to our core offerings of medical equipment auctions and listings. DOTmed has become the world's leading public marketplace for medical equipment, parts, and services.

DOTmed began when President Philip F. Jacobus -- who at one time was an international medical equipment broker -- noticed that each time a piece of equipment changed hands it was marked up, often doubling or tripling in price before finding a home in a doctor's office, clinic or other facility. So he compiled and distributed a list of equipment for sale.
"At first I used a printed list with Lotus 1-2-3 and mailed newsprint to 5,000 people," Jacobus said. "I realized the Internet would bring efficiencies that would put me out of business so I created DOTmed."
DOTmed added key staff in IT and marketing to build its brand. To support our business users, DOTmed.com has developed features including PartsHunter, RFP, Hospital Help, and Rental Central. Our Technicians Forum provides an invaluable online community for biomedical engineers and our Honest/Dishonest Forum uses the unique power of the Internet to self-police the industry. Meanwhile, the DOTmed Certified and DOTmed 100 programs designate the most reliable and professional people and companies as rated by those they do business with.
In a reversal of most business models, DOTmed started as a website and then launched a magazine. Today, DOTmed is a significant publisher and an important voice in the equipment industry and aftermarket. Our daily online news is distributed worldwide and our monthly magazine, DOTmed Business News, goes to U.S. hospitals, imaging centers, and other practices and businesses.
