The Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) 2009 Annual Meeting is just around the corner, set for June 13-17 in Toronto. The event promises five days packed with activities, learning, exhibits and networking with colleagues, industry leaders and major manufacturers' innovations.
More than 4,000 molecular imaging and therapy professionals and approximately 200 exhibiting companies, including DOTmed, are expected. Exhibitors may still be able to get space.
As he does every year, Dr. Henry Wagner of Johns Hopkins will give his highlights reel of advances and trends in the field. This year his theme will be "Creating a New, Smarter Health Care System," he told DOTmed News.

"I think the times are fantastic for nuclear medicine because of personalized medicine," Dr. Wagner said. "In my opinion no specialty in medicine today is better equipped to transfer the advances in molecular biology and genetics to care for patients in the prevention of disease."
He is also going provide case examples and discuss ways to improve individual patient care and reduce population costs, such as mining electronic medical records for the most effective interventions.
Educational tracks and CE credits
Continuing education credit sessions and workshops are offered each day. Sessions are segmented according to therapeutic specialty or interest. Topics range from
Nuclear Cardiology - Making Your Lab Exclusive to
Molecular Imaging Participation in Clinical Trials: Nuts and Bolts of the Molecular Imaging Clinical Trials Network to

Case reviews and scientific abstract presentations provide more opportunities for learning.
