Jackson Healthcare Launches New Business

by Barbara Kram, Editor | July 23, 2009
Alpharetta, Ga. - Jackson Healthcare, an Atlanta based healthcare staffing and technology firm, has created Jackson Surgical Assistants, a national surgical assistant management company that helps surgeons and hospitals improve operating room productivity. Jackson Surgical Assistants uses precision process management to help hospitals with recruiting, placement, scheduling and billing support of trained clinicians to assist during surgery-ultimately raising operating room profitability.

Approximately one third of all surgeries, both inpatient and outpatient, require the services of a surgical assistant. Surgical assistants provide aid in exposure, homeostasis, closing and other technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation. By providing an extra pair of hands in the operating room, surgical assistants extend the efficacy and efficiency of a surgeon at a lower cost than a second surgeon.
The majority of surgical assistants working today are employed by hospitals and used on an as-needed basis. By outsourcing those employees to Jackson Surgical Assistants, hospitals will be able to leverage a larger pool of assistants as their needs change. At the same time, scheduling and back office support ensures greater process efficiency and more reliable reimbursements.
