The American Nurses Association (ANA), representing the interest of the registered nurses in the U.S., has announced it is re-launching its Nurses Career Center, now a part of the National Healthcare Career Network(NHCN)-a healthcare association job board network. The ANA reports in a press release that the Nurse's Career Center links to the jobs boards of over 175 top healthcare associations and professional organizations.

The ANA's press release says the initiative with the NHCN is to address the current critical shortage of U.S. healthcare workers, and enables healthcare recruiters to find qualified candidates for healthcare job openings. "Associations participating in the NHCN network gain greater exposure for each job posting, and healthcare employers using NHCN are able to find talent faster -- selecting from the largest pool of candidates with certifications, extensive health care education and specialized knowledge available," the release states.

"ANA recognizes the importance of offering our members the latest career and educational resources that help them in their roles as registered nurses," said ANA Chief Executive Officer Marla J. Weston, PhD, RN, in the press release. "Through this alliance with NHCN, ANA has significantly strengthened the ANA Nurse's Career Center and now offers our members a vast, extensive network of potential job opportunities, giving them a competitive edge in today's workforce."

ANA says that NHCN founding partner the American Hospital Association (AHA), is working hard to rally healthcare associations around to the cause. Anthony Burke, president and CEO of AHA Solutions (an AHA company) stated in the press release, "In spite of the economic downturn, healthcare employers are still struggling to find great candidates." Burke continued, "ANA is a great addition to the network, and we invite all health care associations - large and small, national and regional - to join us as we band together to tackle the workforce challenges."

On the Career Center, one may find information on meetings and conferences hosted and co-hosted by the American Nurses Association (ANA), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and American Nurses Foundation (ANF), online continuing education, post resumes and find jobs, and purchase nursing-related publications.
