Montreal, Canada, November 22, 2005 -- Matrox Graphics Inc., the leading manufacturer of graphics solutions for professionals, has announced that Matrox is targeting its applicable Matrox medical imaging display controller boards, including the Matrox MED, RAD, TheatreVUE and AuroraVX Series boards, to be qualified as compliant with the provisions related to RoHS as specified under the directive 2002/95/EC.

The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted a Directive on the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment, known as the RoHS Directive. The RoHS Directive will restrict placement on the EU market of electrical and electronic equipment containing lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, and PBDE as of July 1st, 2006.

Matrox RoHS-compliant medical display controller boards are form, fit and function equivalent to their RoHS non-compliant counterparts and are drop-in compatible. Existing Matrox software, drivers and graphics BIOS operate transparently with the RoHS-compliant versions, and no changes are required. The RoHS compliant products provide the same level of quality, compatibility and reliability customers have come to expect from Matrox.
