Wacom met with the DOTmed News team at RSNA 2009 to show why, in radiology, the pen could be mightier than the mouse.

The 28-year-old company, whose U.S. offices are based in Vancouver, Wash., makes pen-display screens that, combined with radiotherapy treatment management software from companies like Prowess, could speed some aspects of workflows in radiology departments by almost 40 percent, they say.

In the video, Mike Dana, business development manager of Wacom, shows the DTZ-2100 with a 21.3" LCD screen and the company's patented cordless pen technology. Then, Enrique Jaramillo, an account manager with Prowess, demonstrates how using the pen instead of a mouse with Panther, their treatment software, makes contouring targets for radiotherapy easier and more intuitive.
