DOTmed News visited South Korea recently to tour the nation's proton beam therapy treatment center. Dr. Kwan H. Cho, radiation oncologist, described the National Cancer Center facility just outside Seoul. The NCC proton center has two rotating and one fixed-beam treatment room. Dr. Cho said that the set-up provides an option for U.S. prostate cancer patients who seek treatment right away and at lower cost than U.S. centers.
The technology is also used for head and neck, as well as other cancers.
