Group purchasing organization and VHA Inc. subsidiary Provista said Monday it named former Viant Inc. CEO Daniel J. Thomas president.
Thomas led Viant, a Naperville, Ill.-based cost-control company for health insurance firms, since it was spun off from Concentra Inc. in 2007. Viant was bought by Multiplan last year.
Thomas joined Concentra's predecessor in 1993, OccuSystems Inc., and served as Concentra's president and CEO from 1998 to 2007.
Thomas also served as chair of the Concentra's board from June 2007 until Dec. 2010, when the company was bought by Humana.
"I welcome this opportunity to continue to apply the strengths and strategies that will firmly establish Provista as a leading supply chain improvement company and GPO with the largest share in the non-acute health care market," Thomas said in prepared remarks.
Irving, Texas-based Provista is a GPO that serves the health care, hospitality and education industries. Its supply-contracting company is Novation LLC.
