Hitachi Medical Corp. said last week it would base its U.S. ultrasound operations at the former U.S. headquarters of Aloka Co. Ltd., in Wallingford, Conn.
Hitachi bought Aloka in March, creating Hitachi Aloka Medical Ltd., the third-largest ultrasound company worldwide, according to Hitachi. Its international headquarters is in Tokyo.
The chief operating officer of Aloka's American division, David R. Famiglietti, was also promoted to general manager of Hitachi Aloka Medical America. This will handle U.S. ultrasound sales, service, marketing and clinical applications for Aloka and Hitachi Medical's American outfit, based in Twinsburg, Ohio.
