Phil visits with Debra Murphy, AHRA's publications director

by Philip F. Jacobus, CEO | February 06, 2012
AHRA's annual meeting will be held in August.
Several weeks ago I had the good fortune to have lunch with Debra Murphy, publications director of AHRA: The Association for Medical Imaging Management, and the editor of Radiology Management, AHRA's journal. I am a member of the AHRA and I receive Radiology Management.

Like many of you, I receive a number of periodicals, but I always take something away from Radiology Management and I was hoping to ask Debra's advice about how to improve our magazine DOTmed Business News.

During our lunch, Debra commented on how happy she is at the AHRA. She feels that working in health care is rewarding and that the AHRA members are engaged. Members share ideas and go out of their way to help each other, help the association and the industry.

We attend the AHRA annual meeting every year and I find the members to be focused and engaged, while still down to earth. Every year I am impressed with how well-informed radiology administrators are, even though they're overworked.

I would like to think that both Radiology Management and DOTmed Business News help to keep readers informed and better equipped to take on the heavy lifting of managing a radiology department.

In the end, I feel that the DOTmed news operation both in print and online is headed in the right direction. I only hope that our readers will share ideas about how we can improve our content.

The AHRA annual meeting will be held in Orlando from Aug. 12 to 15. DOTmed will be there so please stop by to say hello.
