Los Angeles private equity firm Platinum Equity said Monday it was buying medical imaging equipment seller and servicer
DMS Health Technologies from its parent company Otter Tail Corp. Terms of the deal, which is subject to customary closing conditions, weren't disclosed.
Platinum Equity has acquired more than 120 companies since it was founded in 1995 by Tom Gores. Currently, it holds over 30 companies in fields such as manufacturing, telecommunications and IT, including U.S. Robotics, Americatel, Keen Transport and NESCO.
DMS Health Technologies is a distributor and servicer of Philips imaging equipment in the upper Midwest, and also sells parts and used ultrasound and patient monitoring systems. Its service offerings include mobile imaging rentals and asset management.
DMS, headquartered in Fargo, N.D., dates back to the early 1970s, and has been owned by Otter Tail, which also has an office in Fargo, since 1993.
