Health care supply chain consulting service GHX LLC named e-commerce executive Steve Cochran its new chief technology officer. In its Monday announcement, the Louisville, Colo. company said Cochran would help develop its exchange service that connects providers with suppliers.

Cochran comes to GHX from the similarly named but unrelated GXS, an e-commerce firm, where he served as vice president of global product management. Prior to GXS, he was CTO at technology business Inovis, which was eventually bought by GXS.

Founded in 2000 by five medical device companies, GHX is probably best known for automating supply chain transactions for providers, medical device suppliers and group purchasing organizations. It's currently owned by 20 groups, primarily device firms and GPOs.
