IBA inks $50 million Texas proton deal

by Brendon Nafziger, DOTmed News Associate Editor | September 18, 2012
IBA said it inked a $50 million deal to install a cyclotron at a planned Texas proton therapy center scheduled to start treating patients in 2015.

The $105 million center, set to open in the Dallas suburb of Irving, would be the 23rd proton center worldwide powered by IBA's cyclotron technology. It would also be Texas' second proton therapy center, after one run by MD Anderson in Houston.

The in-development facility is the result of a collaboration among Texas Oncology, an independent oncology chain, McKesson Specialty Health, a division of McKesson Corp., and Baylor Health Enterprises, a Baylor Health System subsidiary, the Belgian company said in its press release last week.
