Hi, since it was Independence Day yesterday, the national holiday of the United States of America, we closed on 3rd and 4th. They celebrate it with magnificent fireworks all over. In NYC, there are three different fireworks launching sites this year (the 30th anniversary of the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks) -- the traditional location on the East River between 23rd and 42nd Streets, the Statue of Liberty, and the South Street Seaport.

I was on the roof of my friend's apartment that had a good angle of the view. I was impressed because they launched same kind of fireworks at same time from three different sites, and there were some unique shapes such as smiley face, dice, planet and so on. Needless to say, we all were in celebration mode!!

On last Wednesday, Phil's friends, Mr. and Mrs.Bard, were visiting his office. They are from the same place as Phil - Pennsylvania - and have known each other for many years. As it was a fine day, I went out with them to ride the ferry to Staten Island that goes right by The Statue of Liberty. It was very fun to be with them because they were so nice and talked a lot about Phil, their family and hometown.


It is my pleasure to meet new people and share our stories. I hope I would have more opportunities to expand my relationship during my stay in NY!
