Elmsford, NY, June 22, 2006 - AFP Imaging will expand its sales and marketing efforts for three dimensional, dental x-ray imaging equipment into the United States. The technology and software used to capture and produce three-dimensional dental images was originally designed and developed by Quantitative Radiology, "QR", Verona, Italy. AFP is now QR's distributor in the USA and is the successor to Aperio Services LLC. The Company and QR had previously announced, on May 30, 2006, that it had executed exclusive distribution agreements with AFP for the territories of Canada and Latin America, excluding Brazil. The term of these agreements is for three years.
This state of the art, low-dose imaging equipment, produces three dimensional (3D) x-ray images for Implantology. 3D Dental images are enhanced, in office, CT scans of the mouth and are a dynamic improvement over historical two dimensional panoramic film images as well as conventional, higher radiation, hospital CT scans that have been utilized for the past 30 years. Cone beam x-ray technology is an important diagnostic tool for Implantologists, Orthodontists, and Oral Surgeons. The images provide more information when diagnosing a patient's condition and jaw structure. It is anticipated that this three-dimensional technology will become state of the art. The dentist's incentive to purchase an in office Dental CT system is to allow for a quicker completion of the prescribed procedure and treatment. The current referral practice is to send the patient for an off-premises medical CT scan. This state of the art, low-dose imaging equipment, produces three dimensional x-ray images for Implantology and other applications.
Dr. Roberto Molteni, AFP's Executive Vice President of Technology said, "We are very excited by this opportunity to expand our line of digital imaging products with Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), which is quickly becoming the diagnostic tool par excellence in dentistry and in other specialties. The combination of QR's leading market position, innovative technology know-how and AFP's global marketing skills will be a factor in the worldwide dental marketplace."
