DOTmed: Tell us about this purchase. MRI and CT imaging exams are used to diagnose a wide variety of conditions ranging from knee injuries and concussions to heart attacks, strokes, cancer or other diseases. These imaging studies provide doctors with detailed three-dimensional views of anatomical structures within the body that are vital to the diagnostic process.
Memorial Medical Center (Springfield, Ill.) is implementing a CARESTREAM Vue PACS that offers important new diagnostic tools for radiologists. An automatic registration feature for MRI, CT and other 3D exams electronically overlays one exam on top of another to help radiologists detect subtle changes in a patient’s condition. New lesion management capabilities include measurement tools that help radiologists determine whether a cancerous lesion is growing or shrinking.
DOTmed: Any final thoughts? The hospital also purchased Carestream’s Vue Motion image viewer that equips on-site and off-site physicians with convenient Web-based access to radiology exams and reports.
