If you are sitting at your desk in a warm, comfortable chair and you just had your coffee, and maybe a danish, please read this carefully.
I'm devoting my blog this week to the disaster recovery efforts in the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan caused massive devastation across the country.
There are several organizations involved with relief efforts. Below, I have compiled a list of some of them with links and ways you can help.
The Salvation Army is asking for $10 donations by texting TYPHOON to 80888 or through their website. All of the money will be used to sort, ship and distribute donated goods.
The Philippine Red Cross said it has mobilized teams on the ground to help with rescue and relief operations and is accepting donations on its website.
International Medical Corps is in the country with an emergency response team. They are accepting donations through their website to ship medicine, clean water and food. They are also asking for $10 donations by texting MED to 80888.
Mercy Corps is accepting donations on its website as emergency responders move food, water, shelter and other supplies to the region.
National Alliance for Filipino Concerns has created a disaster relief fund on its website.
World Vision is providing food and water to victims. Donations can be made on its website.
Catholic Relief Services is also accepting donations on its website.
UNICEF is taking donations to help provide children with shelter, clean water, nutrition and vaccines. Donations can be made on its website.
Direct Relief is accepting donations through its website to ship medicine, nutritional supplements and first aid supplies to the region.
Apple has created an option in the iTunes Store allowing iTunes customers to donate. iTunes said 100 percent of donations will go to the American Red Cross.
