Ventilator system
Covidien recently announced its Puritan Bennett 980 ventilator has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance.

The Puritan Bennett 980 ventilator system is for patients ranging from neonatal to adult. The ventilator system was also approved for commercial distribution in Japan and Canada and will be available in those countries and the U.S. in the coming months.

DR system
Siemens’ Ysio Max recently received FDA clearance. The system offers new features and upgrades including new X-ray detectors and automation tools including a feature that displays the current detector angle on a color touchscreen. The enhanced touchscreen can also give the technologist status messages to help with workflow and safety.

The three new detectors on the Ysio Max are all different. One is a lightweight wireless detector with a handle — the smallest so far from the company; another small detector is designed for orthopedics, pediatrics and trauma exams; and the third is 17” x 17” and is meant for every patient type.

Both small detectors are able to be swapped between other Siemens radiography, fluoroscopy and urology systems.

Neuro/oncology workstation
Medical imaging company aycan recently introduced the aycan Neuro/Oncology workstation. Designed for neuro-oncology applications, the new workstation is powered by aycan workstation OsiriX PRO, and FDA 510(k) cleared plug-ins from partner company Imaging Biometrics, LLC.
