GE Healthcare and Maquet announced today that they are collaborating to develop a new flexible angiography system for hybrid operating rooms. The system will combine GE’s Discovery IGS 730 with Maquet’s Magnus operating table system.
The combination of the two solutions will open the operating room up for multidisciplinary surgical interventions. Since the Magnus system has a universal table top, the hybrid operating room can also be used for regular operating room programs.
“This solution should enable hospitals to expand their services to attract more patients and physicians while securing the operating room utilization.” Chantal Le Chat, global general manager interventional at GE Healthcare, said in a statement.

Its unique mobility is what makes the Discovery IGS 730 different from other angiography systems on the market, according to GE. It has a laser-guided mobile gantry and can be placed anywhere in the operating rooms, which provides the clinicians with better patient access.
Its mobility also allows for more flexibility when installing instruments suspended on the ceiling, including laminar flow and booms. It provides high-quality 2-D imagery, 3-D rotational angiography and multimodality 3-D fusion.
The Magnus table system meets surgeons' and interventional physicians' requirements and it can achieve a position where the patient is almost floating, which provides free access to the surgical field from all directions.
