As for me, I went to a senior center to help serve lunch last Saturday as a volunteer. Five volunteers including me worked on washing oranges, pouring juice, packing breads and setting silverware before serving. Once we started serving, there was a long line with many seniors. We were very busy until the end. Actually, our team leader told me that it was the first time we ran out of food. She has worked on this project once a month for a few years, and they have never run out of food until then. I think it is amazing that my first day of taking part in this project was the first day for running out of food!

I really enjoyed working with the people I met there because all of us were from different countries - Australia, Sri Lanka, the U.S. and Japan. I was glad since they all welcomed me as a friend!

After I finished volunteering, I went for a walk in the city. And then a surprising thing happened accidentally. I found a large group of people in front of a museum, and asked one of them what it was going on. She said, the "Dalai Lama is coming out from the museum soon!" I was so excited to see him since I thought it was almost impossible to come across such a famous person in my life. Once he came out, the people around there started clapping and put their hand together for him. It was absolutely a precious moment! I look forward seeing someone famous again in NY!
