Axiobionics announced the launch of TripleFlex, a new category of devices which impart lift and energy to paralyzed limbs to help improve walking in patients with hip, knee and foot drop. TripleFlex fulfills a need not achieved by orthotics, which typically restrict movement. Instead, TripleFlex puts energy into a patient’s step by flexing the hip, knee and ankle joints to improve the biomechanics of walking.

Portable 12-lead interpretative ECG machine
Medical Device Depot, Inc. announced the release of a portable 12-lead interpretative ECG machine available for use with the Apple iPad, iPhone or iPod. The CardioCard Mobile is the first of its kind, giving health care practitioners the ability to perform ECG testing by turning a hand-held Apple device into a fully-functioning ECG machine. It is now possible to provide expert ECG analysis to patients both in the doctor’s office and halfway across the world. The CardioCard Management System allows for more in-depth ECG analysis and printing of reports at the completion of each test, while EMR connectivity facilitates wireless records management, reducing errors and allowing immediate remote review of the data. A PDF output option ensures a universally compliant format for storing and exchanging ECG data.
Tomosynthesis Technology
Shimadzu Medical Systems offers T-Smart, a new software algorithm that improves the clarity of tomosynthesis-acquired orthopedic images containing metal implanted objects. T-smart (Tomosynthesis-Shimadzu Metal Artifact Reduction Technology) is a method of image reconstruction designed for imaging metal implants such as artificial joints. It uses a tomographic image reconstruction algorithm combining iterative reconstruction approximation, and a metal-isolating algorithm that further reduces the few metal artifacts that remain with tomosynthesis. Artifacts are reduced to the degree that they are barely noticeable.
