Laura Steeves Gogal
will direct ASTRO's
legal activities.
The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology is pleased to announce Laura Steeves Gogal is joining ASTRO as its new General Counsel. In her role at ASTRO, Ms. Gogal will manage the Society’s legal activities and advise on healthcare-related policy issues.
Ms. Gogal previously served as Vice President and Chief Counsel for the Federation of American Hospitals. During her tenure, Ms. Gogal focused on legal health policy issues such as confidentiality, fraud and abuse, self-referral, Medicare and healthcare liability.
Prior to her service at the Federation, Ms. Gogal served as the Counsel for Health Affairs in the office of U.S. Senator John C. Danforth of Missouri where she advised on healthcare reform policy before the Senate Finance Committee. She also brings to the table experience in private practice law and served as a clerk for a federal judge.

Ms. Gogal graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia and holds a Juris Doctorate from Harvard University, where she served as President of the Student Bar Association. She is admitted to the bars of both Virginia and Washington, D.C., and has been active in the American Health Lawyers Association.
